Meaning

Shows that someone intentionally changes an object or situation.

Formation

  1. i-adjective: い → く + する: 小さくする
  2. na-adjective and noun: + に + する: きれいにする

Important notes

  • する makes a state change deliberately — 音を小さくする.

Common mistakes

  • Use く for い-adjectives and に for な-adjectives: 小さくする, きれいにする.
