Forms a respectful request for the listener to do something.

  2. Softer than てください and politer than てくれませんか

Important notes

  • The negative question makes a deferential request for someone else's help.

Common mistakes

  • Use the て form: 教えていただけませんか. It does not ask permission for your own action.
