Meaning

Shows that the speaker receives a favor or help from someone else.

Formation

  1. て form + もらう — 書いてもらいました
  2. The doer takes に: 先生に書いてもらいました

Important notes

  • The receiver is the subject, and the helper usually takes に.

Common mistakes

  • 私が先生に説明してもらった means I received the explanation, not that I explained to the teacher.
