と思います

I think, in my opinion

Meaning

Used to express an opinion, guess, or personal judgment. It follows the plain form of a clause.

Formation

  1. Plain form + と思います: おいしいと思います
  2. Nouns and na-adjectives take だ: 雨だと思います
  3. Someone else's opinion takes と思っています

Important notes

  • と思っている can report another person's continuing opinion.

  • Make the subject of the opinion clear: 田中さんはこの方法がいいと思っています.
