〜ようにする

Try to; make a point of (not) doing

Meaning

Shows a conscious effort to do or avoid something, either as a one-time goal or as a new habit.

Formation

  1. Dictionary form or ない + ようにする: 飲むようにします
  2. ようにしている — an ongoing effort or habit; ようにする can set either a one-time goal or a new habit

  • 毎日歩くようにしている means making a habit of walking, not a change in ability.
