Important notes
- に marks where something exists and where movement ends: 学校にいる, 学校に行く. Actions performed at a place take で: 学校で勉強する. Verbs of placing or entering take に for the point where something ends up: 棚に置く, 部屋に入る.
Common mistakes
- Do not replace に with で just because English uses 'in' for both. Leaving a place takes を: 部屋を出る, not 部屋に出る.
