Meaning

"A, of course — and B as well": the first item is obvious, the second is the addition. It attaches to nouns, and to verbs and adjectives via の; the second half usually has も.

When to use it

Where to use it: Descriptions, reviews, ads and rules: 味はもちろん、サービスも一流だ; ご本人はもちろん、ご家族の方もご参加いただけます.
Where not to use it: It can't follow a verb or adjective directly without の (✗ 話すはもちろん). If the first item isn't obvious at all, だけでなく fits better.

Important notes

It works with negatives too: 料理はもちろん、お湯も沸かせない — "can't cook, obviously — can't even boil water".
The second half may be a request: 筆記用具はもちろん、受験票も持ってきてください.
はもとより means the same but is more literary (N2 level).

Common mistakes

✗ 英語を話すはもちろん → ✓ 英語を話すのはもちろん — a verb must be turned into a noun with の before はもちろん.
✗ 味もちろん、サービスも一流だ → ✓ 味はもちろん、サービスも一流だ — without は, もちろん is just the adverb "of course" and links nothing.
✗ ご本人はもちろん、ご家族の方はご参加いただけます → ✓ ご家族の方もご参加いただけます — the second item is added, so it takes も.
